'Deep concern' over human, security consequences
Hojatoleslam Seyyed Ebrahim Khalil Razavi, head of the Bangladesh Imamia Ulama Council, told Hawzah News that the Khulna legal community has taken a principled stance based on human and legal responsibility regarding recent events and acts of aggression committed against the Islamic Republic.
"The Bangladeshi jurists, in this letter, have expressed deep concern over the human and security consequences of these aggressions," Razavi stated.
Stark violation of international law
The signatories emphasized that attacking an independent country, destroying vital infrastructure, threatening public security, and inflicting harm on civilians constitute a flagrant violation of accepted principles of international law and fundamental human rights.
"They have made it clear that one cannot remain silent in the face of such actions," Razavi added.
The letter further warns that the continuation of aggressive policies not only endangers regional security and stability but also undermines the principles of justice, national sovereignty of countries, and global peace.
Call for accountability, end to collective punishment
The Bangladeshi legal professionals affirmed that no independent nation should be subjected to aggression, threats, or collective punishment. The letter expresses sincere solidarity with the Iranian people and offers condolences to the families of victims.
Crucially, the signatories have called upon international organizations, human rights bodies, and global forums to place on their agenda practical and effective measures to halt the aggressions and hold those responsible accountable.
Broader reflection of legal elite solidarity
The letter, signed by 156 lawyers, retired judges, jurists, and members of the legal community of the Khulna region, has been officially dispatched to the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Dhaka.
According to Razavi, this action serves as a reflection of the empathy and support of Bangladesh's legal elites for the Iranian nation in the face of recent aggressions.
